The market opened slightly gap up and made a high of 24,381. Then it went quiet.

Some mornings there is genuinely nothing to decode, and the honest thing is to say so rather than manufacture a story. Today is one of those mornings.

But step back six sessions and the tape looks different. Since 24 July the index has travelled from the 23,600 area to this morning's 24,381 — close to eight hundred points, covered without any single day that felt dramatic while you were living through it. That is how most real moves happen. Not one loud session you remember, but six ordinary ones you don't.

This is worth sitting with, because it is the opposite of how the screen trains you. The screen rewards the day that shocks you. The chart, later, only records the distance. Nobody who looks back at this week in October will remember which morning felt dull.

Today is Friday, so today's close is also the week's close — the number that goes into the weekly record and stays there. Every other price printed between Monday and now is intraday noise that gets erased by the candle. That is simply what a weekly close is: one number out of five days, doing all the remembering.
